About Us
Background
GKV Foods is a private limited liability agro-processing company incorporated under Ghana’s Companies Act, (Act 179), 1963, on April 15, 2013, with registration number CS178982013. The company has researched into several derivative products from coconuts for the local and international market. GKV is currently pursuing the production of quality foods for healthy living under the ava Foods brand.
At GKV, we have quality at the heart of everything we do. Our processing is done under the guidance of experienced personnel using advanced equipment. Manufactured to meet both local and international standards, we review our products biannually in an internationally accredited lab based in Germany and South Africa to ensure our product quality consistency. Our product goes through a quality control verifications. A unique way of production, designed to ensure best quality oil for both the local and international market.
Our Uniqueness
As a zero-waste company, GKV uses every part of the raw materials in the extraction process. The coconut shell is currently processed into shell charcoal for onward production of activated carbon. The coconut fibre is then used as bio-fuel to power the kiln for the charcoal.
Product Quality
At GKV, quality assurance is our maxim. Our raw materials are carefully selected from the farm gate and taken through rigorous checks. Our company works with a network of Out-Grower Farmers for the raw materials and farmers are resourced with capacity building and quality seedlings. We have our own in-house quality assurance lab which is managed by a highly-qualified food scientist.
Capacity
Our current production lies at 30 tons of coconut oil and 1.8 tons of desiccated powder per month.
And our product goes through a quality control verifications. A unique way of production, designed to ensure best quality oil for both the local and international market.
Raw Material Sourcing
Our raw materials are uniquely sourced from the richest parts of the Western Region of Ghana (highest producer of the healthiest coconuts)
- In collaboration with the Oil Palm Research Institute of CSIR we have been able to provide training for farmers within the Region
- This relationship has made us the preferred buyers of the best coconut from our farmers
