Founder's Story
After being diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure, Kojo Nunoo decided to go on a relentless search to discover a remedy for his health crises. Finally, after many tryouts, he landed on coconut oil, which stabilized his condition astoundingly. That was when the passion for coconut was ignited.
After many years of advocacy and exploration into this miraculous oil, Kojo felt it was not enough. It finally struck him that he had to walk the talk and begin production of quality and authentic coconut oil to serve the populace. That is where the story began…
Through thorough research and help from family and friends, GKV Investment Limited, the mother company of ava coconut oil was born. Eventually, in January 2016, construction fully began in Takoradi and by December, the dream had finally become a reality. Production had started.
Within a short period, production quadrupled from 50 to 200 nuts and then finally hit 400 nuts! After giving family and friends samples to try, the feedback was tremendous. This then motivated Kojo to even work harder leading to Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to finally approve for mass market consumption.
Today, ava Coconut Oil is available in almost all supermarkets across the country. Our growth has since been gradual, consistent, and noticeable…

Certification
- We are FSSC22000 certified by SGS and and just successfully completed our first Organic Certification audit by Ecocert.
- We are also certified by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) – the food governing body in Ghana, and the Ghana Standards Authority which is also responsible for certifying production quality standards in the country.
- We also undertake regular laboratory testing of our products in external laboratories in Germany and South Africa.
Awards
The Managing Director of GKV Kojo Nunoo was recently awarded the 2020 National Best Agro-Processor during the Ghana National Farmers Day Celebrations.
